During his stay in India in 1755-1761, mainly in Surat, A. J. Anquetil-Duperron acquired 180 Avestan, Pahlavi, Persian and Sanskrit manuscripts for the Bibliothèque du Roi. Now they are preserved in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris.
